babyjollof:

i don’t think the doc is the actual second lead, i think we’re getting another one (i hope) bc i’ll enjoy that one more.

I think he doesn’t feel like a “real” second lead because he displays traits that I’d associate with the standard asshat leading man, whereas Soo Hyuk displays more of those second lead traits. Hae Joon was already a second lead to Soo Hyuk’s baby mama, so maybe he’s decided this is his drama and he’s the lead. Which is why I think Mi Mo was so enamored by him at first – he fit that ideal checklist in her head that was likely influenced by movies and dramas (despite the practical advice she gives her clients, she’s clearly a romantic at heart).

I don’t think it was any accident that so many of these episodes have begun with a parody of movies/dramas/fairy tales/etc. Mi Mo’s vision of love is unrealistic but it works on paper, as a script. She’s just trying to cram in the perfect guy into her script of “true love” (don’t forget, the show literally started out as a “happily ever after” fairy tale until reality set in). My view of the show is that she’s been her realizing that this ideal image of “true love” (Romeo and Juliet!) is just that, an image, and reality is a bit messier and maybe falling in love with a single dad who has a thing for animal onsies isn’t the worst thing ever. Just sayin’.

(I mean he cooks and cleans and especially cleans up her vomit like if that’s not a sign of “true love” I don’t know what is.)
