I decided to check out CITT since apparently I can’t really handle more than one or two eps of SFD in a row and I like having background noise while I pretend to be an adult do chores on my day off. I’m not sure if this is the drama for me, though, because I’m realizing I only like the show when it’s about Hong Seol dealing with school stuff and hanging out with her awesome friends Eun Tak and Bo Ra. I immediately stop caring about the show when Yoo Joon or In Ho think they’re one of the leads.

I’m not sure if I’ll stick with it until the end, unless I keep it as background noise, but I do really love Eun Tak and Bo Ra and would happily watch a show about them.

It’s so funny because I’m the exact opposite. I mean I like happy couples (I enjoy me a nice slide-of-life show), and I don’t want a drama overload or else it gets frustrating, but I like the story.

Or in actuality, I like In Ho. Because a) Seo Kang Joon and b) character development. He’s the reason I’m watching this drama. I’m sometimes a sucker for a pretty face, but I also honestly believe he’s doing a good job acting (he’ll have to act in more for me to accurately judge of course – this is the first thing I’ve seen him in). In Ho also gets a consistent character development that’s nice to see. He’s the only character I actually like better in the show than in the comic. In the comic he just comes off as a ball of anger. In the show he’s an adorable ball of anger that learns to be a little less of a firecracker.

It does have interesting possibilities on Jung’s side, but we still haven’t gotten any explanation for his behavior, little-to-no character development for him, and the show is almost over. Part of the problem is that the show is going past the webtoon. It caught up to it in no time, and left out some important pieces of the story, hints from the past that keep the reader interested.

Seol is…well to be honest she’s kind of bland, in the show at least. She does get development, but sometimes it seems like it’s in the wrong direction. In the webcomic I got a much more pleasant impression of her, as up beat and hardworking. Here she’s just hardworking and stressed. You sort of like her but it’s hard to muster up any emotion about her at all.

I would love to see a show about Eun Taek and Bo Ra – as long as Bo Ra eventually stops avoiding her feelings 😅 I wish they got more attention in this show honestly.

Also the show just needs to be longer. Either that or they should have more effectively used their 16 episodes.

I’m only on ep 3 so maybe I’m not far enough in to judge (and I haven’t read the webtoon nor do I plan to start), but I found I stopped what I was doing to pay attention during things like registering for school or dealing with the group project. I find whenever Park Hae Jin is on-screen my brain just goes “nope, not interested” but sometimes have to rewind because I belatedly realize something important must have happened with him and Seol to explain the current scene.

As for SKJ, eh… I prefer his character than Joon’s just generally (yay, free spirit who’s dealing with the loss of his dreams due to Joon, presumably, based on what I’ve gleaned despite being uninterested in those parts), but I still don’t like how either dude relates to Seol and therefore don’t care about potential romance.

But I do love all the background characters and the school setting and that general “struggling to get by even when you don’t know what you’re doing” feeling that I definitely relate to when I was at university. Maybe that’s why I don’t think of Seol as bland – she’s relatable to me. I’m not totally sold on Kim Go Eun but I do like the character, even if her anxiety/paranoia was a little much at first.
