Kevin Oh – “Baby Blue” (Dear My Friends OST)

Last night after work I got some shrimp spring rolls for dinner but then I fell asleep before I could eat them (it was a long day!). I also forgot to put them in the fridge and I woke up this morning SO ANGRY at myself because I just wasted money on a delicious meal that was now headed to the trash.

So tonight I was like, “heck yeah! I’mma get me some spring rolls and ACTUALLY EAT THEM this time!” Because spring rolls are hella tasty.

Except because I get off work so late I’m left with whatever is still available, and tonight there were NO SPRING ROLLS.

It’s been a very tragic Friday the 13th.

But hey, at least I don’t have food poisoning!

Also re: Monster (and forgive my fangirl soul for even saying this) –

I feel like PKW is finally settling back into his acting ability. I’ll admit I’ve been blindly biased, but some of his acting felt a little forced. But happily he seems to have found that balance between the intense over-acting and subtle-yet-expressive that I love about him. I’m chalking up the slightly rough start to him being out the biz for two years. And also those terrible hair extensions.

It’s not just you. That fight was *hilarious*. There have been a few moments like that in this dramas for me though; the “truth serum” with Kitan and Michael was another one.

Oh good, it’s not just me! The truth serum was delightful, too, but I thought it was purposefully played that way. I couldn’t tell if the fight was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek.

Honestly, I’m not really sure what this drama is doing sometimes. Is it trying to be a serious spy/revenge melo? Or an over-the-top take on it? Because I could be persuaded either way, but I’m just not sure how much credit I should be giving.

(I feel personally attacked by 0:55)

If anyone’s curious, I’m catching up with Monster right now and while ep 13 barely held my attention at all (and I vaguely pondered if I should attempt to re-watch it because I obviously was gonna miss important plot points), I’ve barreled on to ep 14 because this is a 50 ep drama – I’m sure I’ll pick up anything I missed by reading between the lines (or they’ll just straight up re-explain in flashback).

But ep 14 has my attention because five minutes in is one of the most ridiculous screen fights I’ve seen in awhile. Like… I don’t… I’m laughing because they randomly slow the choreo down to slow motion and it doesn’t look that threatening at all. I’m pretty sure it is indeed the film that’s slowed down but it looks an awful lot like someone pretending to fight in slow-mo.
