Random thought: one of the reasons Erin was probably so against the news randomly naming them “Ghostbusters” (instead of the official name she gave the group) because it reminded her so much of when her peers called her “Ghost Girl” and laughed at her.

So she’s assuming “Ghostbusters” is a derogatory term that people will use to laugh at them, which in turn makes it a powerful moment after they capture their first ghost when she shouts, “We’re the Ghostbusters!” Because it’s like she’s telling all those cruel bullies that “I’m the Ghost Girl!” and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, it’s a title she now can wear with pride.
