Just watched the first two eps of Life on Mars and while the beginning had me a little concerned that they might have made too many alterations, once things settled into the past, I was happy to see that it’s following the original rather well. Plus Park Sung Woong was born to play the Gene role.

I can’t wait for next week! Although due to my busy schedule, I probably won’t be able to watch the episodes until Monday. *cries*

I just watched the Netflix Explained episode on k-pop. Despite instinctive reservations (because we’ve gone through the hell that was 2012 and all the white people trying to explain Gangnam Style), it actually is a really good primer and a useful tool for someone not familiar with the culture or k-pop to get an understanding of the music.

My coworker was the one who brought it to my attention, since she watched it and wanted to know my “expert” take on it and how accurate it was, and I can say with relief that it does a decent job and I would recommend that everyone with a vague interest in k-pop or Korean entertainment give it a watch.

(She also asked me to send her the music of the girl group they mentioned, the one with the song that had all the genres. At that point I had not seen the episode, but automatically answered “Girls Generation, ‘I’ve Got a Boy’” – and I was right. 😂)

How delightful that after talking about drama kisses last night, this morning as I’m getting caught up on Handsome Guy and Jung Eum, I’m treated to this!

I love that Namgoong Min was the frozen-deer-in-headlights as Hwang Jung Eum went in for the kiss. A nice little gender reversal from the standard kdrama surprise kiss.

But mostly I loved that the followup kiss seemed to be enjoyed by both parties. I’m always a fan of having more mutual kisses in my dramas.
