Putting my life on the line as I attempt to succinctly describe my issues w/ SWDBS and yet still sound neutral as though I’m not the odd one who doesn’t feel the chemistry.
This getting even wilder.
While I always liked Beast, I would only call myself a casual fan. But there’s this urge to become a super fan of Highlight just to spite Cube.
Wait what – Beast changed their name?
That has got to be some weird label legal battle because I don’t see how this will end well.
Hold up – Cube is going to reuse the name Beast for a different boy group?
Oh yeah. That’ll go well.

HAHAHAHA of course they’re watching Six Flying Dragons of course they are
Kdrama Women’s Week: Rent’s Due
Lee Soo Kyung – Let’s Eat

It was a struggle to think of someone who would fit this category, partially because I love dramas for how unrealistic and escapist they are and very rarely relate to characters in a concrete daily-life sense, and partially because of my self-imposed restriction to not use previously selected characters and therefore the most obvious choice, Webtoon Editor, was off the table.
I finally decided on Lee Soo Kyung, because, for me, a job is just a job that helps pay the bills. Even though I’m pretty happy with my current day job, I’ve also had a few that made me so frustrated with management that I can totally relate to her stash of candy bars and secret bathroom rage-eating.
Also my greatest desire when I get home is to eat something delicious and watch my shows. Yes, I am old and boring. I may not be the foodie that Soo Kyung is, but I definitely have my weird little passions that no one else seems to understand, and no one will prevent me from properly enjoying them.

There’s no great mystery throwing me together with my neighbors, but I’m totally willing to judge them and assume the worst about them. It’s just a pity I don’t have a cute insurance salesman neighbor who will eventually charm me and call me “noona” and secretly share my favorite hobby, or an adorable younger neighbor who thinks of me as an older sister whether I like it or not. To be fair, I do generally have to be dragged into friendships because I’m content with the few close friends I already have, so I can relate to the sensation of someone bulldozing their way into your life whether you like it or not. (Unfortunately, none of them look like Yoon Doo Joon. Alas.)
So while I may not completely relate to Lee Soo Kyung in everything, I do appreciate that she just wants to live her life on her own terms, no matter how simple that life may be. After all, some of life’s greatest joys are savoring a delicious meal with friends – or alone with your favorite pet and tv show.

thank you jeongguk high’s trial club for the 12 episodes of solomon’s perjury.
Casually watching Wild Romance because I’d thought about Dong Ah for tomorrow’s KWW post (until I realized that I adore her character but can’t really relate to her on a personal every-day level other than the fact we’re both weird and rely on books to understand things, so instead used Im Joo Eun for today’s post). I just let the episodes run as background noise while I napped and worked on other stuff.
But I’ve finally made it to the episode with the tea scene and managed to grab a screencap I’ve wanted to get for awhile:

Does it seem familiar?
Here, let me help:

Kdrama Women’s Week: Least Typecast Fave
Im Joo Eun
From a possessed schoolgirl to a fairy turned evil that possesses other people; from a rebellious college student in love with her professor to a down-on-her-luck tutor to rich kids caught in a depressing love triangle; from quirky neighbor who speaks her mind to conniving rich chaebol to actual empress – Im Joo Eun can do it all, and never seems to have the same role twice. My only complaint is that she seems selective about her roles and isn’t on my screen enough.

Dramaland Forecast: March 2017
Completed:
- None
Currently Watching:
- Voice – even if I weren’t recapping, I’d still be watching because HANDSOME OPPA!!!!
- Super Family 2017 – a cute and fun family sitcom that I might actually finish since it’s only 40 eps (instead of 100+ episodes, like most family sitcoms are).
- Strong Woman Do Bong Soon – I’m not totally sold on this drama, although at the time of queuing I haven’t decided to drop it just yet.
- Perfect Wife – I’ve learned to instinctively be wary about any of Sung Joon’s projects, but I decided to check this out for the rest of the cast who definitely make it worthwhile (Go So Young is definitely a drama queen!). I like it well enough and it has potential, but I might just stop watching because of how terrible Sung Joon’s suits are. Kidding! But it’s 20 eps and knowing me, I’ll probably drop it at ep 10 unless it turns out to be super amazing.
Skipping/Dropping:
- Hwarang – I bailed on this at ep 12 for no real reason except I lost momentum and there wasn’t anything that made me want to keep watching. I did enjoy it at least until that far.
Upcoming dramas of interest:
- Radiant Office – Okay, yes, the main reason this is on my radar is because of Hoya, but I also really like Go Ah Sung, although I’ve primarily watched her films than her dramas.
- The Liar and His Lover – If I weren’t such a sucker for school musical dramas, this would probably be an easy pass. I’m not sure if I’ll end up watching it, but I’ll keep an ear out for the buzz around it.
- Tunnel – OCN crime dramas always appeal to me, but knowing that king of bromance Yoon Hyun Min will be babysitting a time-traveling cop who’s clueless about modern forensics suddenly makes this a lot more attractive (and not just that it’s Choi Jin Hyuk’s post-Army show!).
- Chicago Typewriter – I’m still iffy on the concept, but anything originally set in the 1930′s and the Japanese Occupation intrigues me (yeah, they’re reincarnated, but I’m hoping for lot of flashbacks!). This also has an excellent cast so far. I don’t know what Dramaland is doing, pulling in actresses who usually stick to film, but I’m grateful for it. My main concern is the writer, who, despite her last couple of hits, weren’t ones I personally enjoyed. But she is paired with the director of My Beautiful Bride, so *fingers crossed.*
As always, any drama not listed means I have nothing new to add since the last mention and/or it’s not something I care about enough to add to the list.
