Walked to the local pharmacy to get some legit allergy meds (and rewarded myself for acting like an adult by buying a sandwich at the local deli).
I got Benadryl because I know that works for me in general, but it also makes me sleepy, so I’m also trying the Claritin 24-hour non-drowsy because I’ve got too much work to do to wanna nap all day. I also added some Sudafed for a poor man’s Claritin-D, since Sudafed was the only thing that helped when my mild allergy to cats would flare up at my old job – but it wasn’t enough to make me comfortable enough to get a good night’s sleep last night (although I definitely noticed when it wore off, ‘cause my eyes were suddenly super itchy waterworks instead of just mildly itchy and teary).
I’ve never had an allergy attack this bad before so I’m not sure what will work best for me. Hopefully this will help tide me over because I really don’t have the time over the next two weeks to go see a doctor for a proper allergy test and prescription.
Why can’t my allergies wait to become a problem until after Big Work Event? *sobs*
(PS – all these meds are generic because no one needs to pay 4x as much for a brand name, but I’m too lazy to type out the ingredient names.)
