So basically what you just did is put all of my thoughts, that I couldn’t fit into my ask, in its answer. Dong Hoon was my fav ever since the start, and I loved him even more after it was revealed he didn’t actually pick up women every night. (1) -S

Yeah, exactly! I really loved him too (although I felt mildly conflicted about it because he – and especially Go Kyung Pyo – reminded me of my cousin, and it’s awkward thinking you’re attracted to your cousin). Out of all the boys, he’s the best pick, I think. Enrique is too much of a manic pixie dream boy and Jin Rok was too much of a Nice Guy™ (although I was happy to defend him because he wasn’t all that bad) and poor Watanabe just smiled and made delicious food (so he’s probably my second favorite because that’s a sure-fire way to win a girl’s heart).

But Dong Hoon felt so real. Even though he wasn’t the brightest or most charming, he was sincere and knew how to handle social situations better than Jin Rok, that’s for sure. I just really loved that moment when he had to confront Jin Rok and tell him that it’s just not realistic to expect to make a living off a webtoon. I get the feeling he’d been putting up with it because he liked it and enjoys drawing, but he knows that it isn’t going to pay the bills, and a man can only sleep in a nest of clothing for so long. I think I relate to that the most. Yes, art is great and wonderful and it’s so fulfilling to create something meaningful… but a girl has got to eat, y’know?

So that’s why I loved that he got paired up with the ever practical Webtoon Editor (who isn’t above enjoying a good story of romance herself, but knows that’s what sells and what matters is fighting for worker’s rights so she can get some sleep).

So these two practical and poor people who work in the arts find each other and realize that they’ll fight to the death for each other (seriously, don’t take Webtoon Editor’s spot next to Dong Hoon). And they get so excited to discover that they no longer owe money but actually have a few pennies – a debt they’ve paid off together through their combined hard work and patience. This is a couple whose lives are equally intertwined and you just know they’re gonna be a kick-ass awesome pair for the rest of their lives.

Which is why I use this scene as my in-dash roll-over header picture thingy, because to me it sums up true love:

I know that rn you’re probably high on that Infinite but I wanted to talk to you about Flower Boy Next Door. Omg. I marathoned the last couple of episodes and kind of skipped through most of them too because imo the romance between Enrique and Dok Mi was dragged out and it became boring. But I honestly watched it to the end ONLY for the romance between Dong Hoon and the Editor. It got me more excited than the actual storyline, it was so cute and cheesy omg. I may write you more in the future! -S

I looooooooooooove Dong Hoon and Webtoon Editor. Love, love, love them.

There aren’t many couplings in drama that make me go “ah yes this is exactly what I want out of life, this is true love” but these two did. I mean, they get the “favorite otp” tag for a reason. They’re also the couple I automatically think of when I see those “otp” tumblr memes.

Obviously I love Webtoon Editor more than words could say, but I think Dong Hoon is an underrated character. He’s a hard worker, even though he comes off as a play boy, and he’s loyal and talented and really cares about the people around him. But he’s also realistic and knows that sometimes talent and wishing won’t get you everywhere. He’s just a total sweetheart and I want to squish him and his goofy face.

He and Webtoon Editor are so good together because there’s no angst there. They may have been thrown together at first due to circumstances, and she may have grudgingly agreed to co-sign his debt (but lbr, there was a lil’ attraction there already, I mean when they’re sitting on the couch at the club I was like, “…and now, KISS!” Their attraction is mutual, which is something I really, really love. There’s no “oh no I like this person but they don’t like me/I shouldn’t like them for ridiculous reasons/I have cancer” etc. It’s two people being drawn to each other and realizing that they like each other and moving forward with that.

I love that Webtoon Editor is the one who kinda makes the most overt moves. She’s the one who meets him at the club. She buys him a bag, for crying out loud! She definitely wears the pants in that relationship, and I love it.

So yes, you can feel free to talk to be me about my favorite otp anytime. ^_^
