Dear namibean. The pictures you share about Kim Jae Wook is enough to convince me that I can’t handle the spam of handsomeness ^////^. OMG, he is real. I don’t remember the last time I’m hooked of an Asian actor more than an anime guy hehe. And he isn’t pretty but masculine. I wanted to ask who he is at first because I don’t watch much drama. But I think I could search info about him on wiki by myself. Just curious, what makes you like him beside his handsome face? Are his dramas worth to watch?

namibean:

Hello my dear anon, ^^

I’m so sorry for all of the spam of the handsome oppa. *laughs*  When I started reblogging the Kim Jae Wook posts, it was only because I was searching for one post (one of the gif sets from Temperature of Love) and ended up finding a bunch of other ones. ^^;

The truth is, I’m not much into dramas myself, usually.  I watch them when I’m interested, but sometimes I just put them on for background noise.  Kdramas have a knack for making me cry, so I don’t watch a lot of them because I don’t want to get sucked in and end up crying all the time.  It’s emotionally draining. *laughs*  The other part to them (and most Jdramas as well) is that they are FULL of pop idols.  When I lived in Japan, watching Gokusen 2 was kind of fun because of all the pretty boys, but I’ve just never been much into boybands.  I even told Joule before that “fangirling” has never really been one of my standard modes.  Yeah, I thought Nick Carter (from the Backstreet Boys) was cute when I was in high school, but I was more of a Blur and Oasis fan at the time.

So how is Kim Jae Wook different?  Well…  First you kind of have to look at my three favorite actors: Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, and David Tennant.  All three are tall.  All three are intelligent.  All three are a bit more on the lean side… which I like to refer to as the “Spiderman build”.  All three look damn fine in a suit.  But, most importantly, all three are extremely excellent, talented actors.  Kim Jae Wook possesses all of those qualities as well.

Back when Joule was watching the OCN crime drama Voice, he was telling me about how good the series was (since he’s not much into romantic fluff series).  Then halfway through, the killer is introduced.  Towards the end of the series, Joule told me more and more about the actor who played the killer.  Kim Jae Wook, despite playing a sadistic psychopath, is extremely charismatic in his role.  From the moment his character is introduced, you can tell that he’s the killer.  You also end up feeling very conflicted because he charms you like a snake.  He is talking to a very fidgety, nervous character when he’s introduced.  After he’s finished talking, he blinks, and the other person is calmed.  It’s like a spell.  And I think that’s sometimes one of the most dangerous types of villains: The one that is likable and you enjoy watching, even when you know he’s killing people.

I definitely recommend Voice if you enjoy crime dramas or thrillers.  Even without Kim Jae Wook in part of the series, it is very high action and suspense with plenty of cliffhangers, plus two very good main characters: Mad Dog and Kang Kwon Joo.  Joule also showed me a scene from another Kim Jae Wook drama Who Are You.  Even without subtitles or not knowing much of what was going on, I ended up crying!!! *laughs*  I don’t know how much that’s worth though.  One recent popular one is Temperature of Love, which I’m curious about, but I’m not sure when I’ll get the chance to watch it.  He has a new drama series coming up where he’ll play an exorcist (I think??  Joule knows more about it than I do. ^^) that I would like to watch when it comes out.

Kim Jae Wook is kind of known for playing the second male lead in dramas and his fans really want him to be a lead.  I think his choices are intentional though.  If you look at the roles he’s been in, they seem like more of a challenge than just being the handsome lead who always gets the girl.  I think that may be why I like him so much. ^^

Yeeeesssssssssssssss.

You get extra love, OP, because I see you tagged the post “handsome oppa.”
