What kind of area are you looking for? (Quiet? partying? Modern? Historical?] What’s your budget? There’s quite a lot of not too expensive hotel and decent hostel in Seoul so it’s mostly a matter of what you intend to do (like tourism or visiting people)

My budget is moderate – I can afford more than a hostel, but nothing super fancy. I mostly want a clean, quiet place (with my own bathroom!) that has easy access to various parts of the city.

I was originally thinking Hongdae because that’s where all the cute shops and coffee places are, but my inner sixty-year-old reminded me that I’m not that interested in trendy places and am much happier wandering museums, hanging out somewhere and people watching, and just generally wandering around. I’m not particularly planning anything specific (yet!) and I figure I’ll just go where my whims take me. I’ll have visited the main touristy spots before that weekend, so I’m not concerned about Namsan, the palace, etc.

(ps – if anyone will be in Seoul Oct 20-22, let me know and maybe we can hang out! ^_^)
