One of the assignments for our diversity training was to write down how people see you or what they assume about you versus all the things they can’t automatically see/assume, and I realized I had no idea how people perceive me and was only coming up with only vague ideas (gender/age/etc).
Like… I care about what people think (everyone please love me!)… but I also kinda don’t care about what people think, provided they just let me live my life and don’t bother me.
Then I realized that’s pretty privileged, to just be invisible and not be hassled by anyone because of who I am.
(But it did make me spiral into a mini-existential crisis because I realized I didn’t know how to define myself. Still don’t, tbh.)
