YES FINISH THIS SEASON OF THE GOOD PLACE IT’S SO FANTASTIC AND COMPLETELY??? UNEXPECTED??? (At least for me)
I finished it yesterday! Am now rewatching with a knowing eye after that season finale.
But yes everyone should watch it!
Over-thinker. Easily distracted by shiny things. Oooh. Shiny.

and yeah, acoustic folk rock is a good name for it! I tend to bunch it all under a “neo-folk/bluegrass/americana” umbrella
anyway, i hope you find some new songs you like :)))
Yes, thank you! ^_^

i’ve never heard of newcomer’s home, but this first song that came up when i googled them is evoking feelings of sixpence none the richer, but, like, if alanis morissette were lead singer, which i am Very here for.
This is probably my favorite song of theirs. I have a live album that is maybe one of my favorite albums ever. I listened to it a lot when I was college (which was when they already broke up, but it got me through a lot of good and bad times). EDIT: Ohhhh, this is the first song off the live album. It’s a great album. EDIT EDIT: oh man the mandolin on this part I just *cries* and then the dueling violin and mandolin on Texas! So good.
They probably weren’t that popular, tbh, except in the local college circuit, but my mentor while I was in high school (she was in college) really loved them and introduced me to them and, well, I guess she was a good mentor. :p
You should look up Katie Herzig! She was the lead singer and now has a bunch of her own albums. She passes through town on tours occasionally and I always say I’ll go but never remember or realize until it’s too late.
These sound like the kind of music I will probably like so I’m answering publicly so I don’t forget later.
Although *sheepish grin* I had to google Sarah because I was like, “ummm I like who?” but I am terrible with names and I can’t tell you how many times I will Shazaam the same song but let’s just say it is A LOT because I will never remember. Sooooo… I apparently can’t remember what I like from her so that’s something for me to explore later.
HOWEVER in high school I was super into what I’ll label as “acoustic folk rock.” It’s still one of my favorite genres and when I’m in a funk, I just need to play some Newcomer’s Home and everything is right with the world (they are still one of my favorite groups even though they no longer exist, boo-hoo, but Katie Herzig is still creating music so that’s good).
Anyway, one of the groups I really loved at that time was Nickel Creek, and it looks like Sarah has worked with/toured with a couple of the members AND she plays the mandolin and that’s just awesome.
Side note, I taught myself how to play mandolin in high school and was getting pretty decent at it but then life happened along with my weak-ass attention span but I still have my mandolin and maybe one day I’ll pick it up again. Maybe. One day.
Hi! And welcome! Tbh I’m not sure I even have all my nuances and faves down myself, so I’d be impressed if you figured that all out in a month.
On to the questions:
I’ve been on an Im Joo Eun kick for Woozily reasons, but she’s definitely a long-term fave and I’m hoping she finds a break-through eventually. (Fun fact: my twitter/DB avatar is Dong Ah from Wild Romance)
Big Bang; Brown Eyed Girls; Wonder Girls; MBLAQ; CNBLUE; FTIsland; Infinite; 2NE1; miss A; f(x); B1A4 (basically anything pre-2012 bc I’m so out of touch)
I’ll watch just about anything tbh and a friend introduced me to jdramas, where I promptly fell in love with the high-school manga adaptations (HANA KIMI 4LYFE). Then there was this Hana Yori Dango remake that I kept hearing about, and the rest is BoF gateway drug history (no I don’t know why I latched onto kdramas instead of jdramas when normally I seem to prefer the jdrama versions but life is a mystery, y’know?)
Like, other tv shows that aren’t dramas?
Veronica Mars; Parks & Rec; Gilmore Girls; Arrested Development; Pushing Daisies; RTD-era Doctor Who; Slings & Arrows; Psych; The OC; Lois & Clark; anything that remotely resembles a cooking competition
Depends on whether or not it’s before or after they broke the chalice from the palace.
