it really is doing an amazing job and is so captivating and the character growth and portrayals are so so good. And theres not a second wasted either like you said, they can discard the fluff and just get into it. I wish I could gif because theres so much i want to gif in the show. Her and Joong ho’s loaded glances to each other for one thing

OMG yes. Even moments where it seems like nothing is happening, there is definitely some amazing subtle acting going on. Those longing glances, those little lookaways, their attempt to present to each other how professional and friendly they are without revealing their true feelings, asldkfjadslkflghsadgkh.

It’s actually one of the harder shows for me to recap just because I always find myself trimming out at least a thousand words of an already ruthless summation to reach the word count limit, and it kills me to not point out every little moment. Most other shows have plenty of dead time or scenes that can be summed up pretty quick and I rarely have an issue of being within word count on the first draft. But this show makes me want to basically transcribe everything and analyze every little look. Sigh.

i havent watched the original show but this drama honestly made me want to check it out. So I didnt know we were speeding through plot points. So the game plan seems to be to pack the show into these 16 episodes, no season 2. I cant wait to see where we’re going

For me, I love that the show selects all these really important, memorable parts and character moments of the original and manages to weave it into something that feels new and definitely a kdrama, yet still makes me excited to see the nods to the original. That voice mail thing? HUGE part of the end of season 1/beginning of season 2 in the original, and it’s practically a word-for-word quote. But because that’s such an important moment from the original, to see it faithfully recreated makes me happy.

And then all the other stuff that I didn’t really care about (or remember) sort of gets brushed aside or ignored because with sixteen episodes, there’s no point in dragging things out. The previews for next week are making me think it’s similar to the end of season 2/beginning of season 3 of the original, so I’m ZOMG EXCITED because that means I kinda know what to expect. But because they play around with what cases they’ll use (it’s nowhere near following any sort of order, although most of the cases have been from the first season even if the character growth have been from multiple seasons) and they put enough of an original spin on it, so even though I know in a vague sense what’s coming, there will still be lots of surprises.

Which is why it’s so great.
